LMAP Pulse
LMAP Pulse is a web-based, post-LMAP 360 survey that measures effort and effectiveness in implementing a Leadership Development Goal. LMAP Pulse creates an ongoing feedback loop that research identifies as the key to successful leadership development efforts. It measures behavioral change and provides structure and feedback to keep the leadership development conversation alive. LMAP Pulse raises expectations that a leader will create, share, and implement a Leadership Development Plan.
LMAP Pulse is not a reassessment – it is a targeted survey of behavioral change that:
- helps a leader focus on one and only one behavior to change,
- raises accountability and expectations within the team that behavior change is the goal,
- and provides benchmarks and rich information to keep the leadership development conversation alive over a one-year period of time.

As an example, in our recent work with 30 senior managers in a global engineering firm, we saw that even the most inflexible senior managers willingly worked to change counterproductive behaviors with the combination of LMAP 360 and LMAP Pulse. Although this client has a history of conducting annual 360 feedback, none of the senior managers had ever experienced the insight, motivation or accountability to act on the feedback. After debriefing their LMAP 360 results with a trained facilitator, each identified a Leadership Development Goal, made the goal public, and received minimal coaching around the process. LMAP Pulse revealed that every participant was rated as showing moderate to significant improvement in leadership effectiveness – and not one leader was rated as showing no or minimal improvement. Nearly a year later, the momentum created by the combination of LMAP 360 and LMAP Pulse is seen in this leadership team.
“LMAP has played an integral part of the accelerated leadership development programs in Asia Pacific and globally at PPG. With the very aggressive growth agenda in the organization, particularly in emerging regions worldwide, funding our growth ambitions with top talent is the most important initiative in the organization. LMAP has brought a new dimension of innovative assessment, feedback and coaching to PPG’s leaders, who have really embraced this aspect of our leadership development initiatives. The level of detail of the assessments, the intimate one-on-one feedback and regular follow-up by the LMAP principals, and the close relationships which have been built between PPG’s leaders and LMAP have enabled us to take a huge step forward in engaging our leaders to be totally committed to their development. The LMAP Pulse process have resulted in the frequent follow-up and attention by our leaders to their development action plans, higher self-awareness, and in improved communications and dialogue between the leaders and their respective teams. Many associates have remarked on significantly positive behavioral changes in our leaders as a result of this program.”
